Council meetings and community consultations
Councils and agencies hold public meetings, information sessions and consultations for communities where many residents speak a language other than English at home. Interpreters are not available for every language at every session.
How HoloTalk helps
- Residents scan a QR code and read the meeting in their own language, from 45 caption languages, with up to 10 translated languages per session.
- Speakers can switch between up to 3 chosen languages, for example English and the community's main language.
- Residents who ask receive the summary by email, in their language.
- A private session has no QR code: only people with an invitation link the host sends by email can join, for closed briefings.
Things to know
- Notice and consent. Tell participants that the meeting is transcribed and translated by AI services, some outside Australia, and obtain any consent the law requires. The Acceptable Use Policy has a notice you can use.
- Where data is processed. Translation, summaries and answers are processed by DeepSeek (People's Republic of China), Anthropic or OpenAI (United States). Check that this fits your organisation's policies before using HoloTalk for sessions that may include personal or sensitive information. The Privacy Policy explains what each provider receives.
- Accuracy. Captions are generated automatically. For decisions that affect residents' rights, and for anyone who relies on an interpreter, provide qualified interpreting as well.
